In the quest to get a perfect body
spotting a tight and trim six pack abs, one would normally first
think of going on an abs diet to lose belly fat. And there is a
lot of information out there in "fat loss for idiots" books,
free online diet plans and newspaper articles telling you how to
lose belly fat with wonderful abs diets that promises to work.
However, you have to be careful what
the abs diet calls for and you have to make an educated judgment
if these abs diets are 'fad'. These diets are dangerous and
harmful to your body and should be avoided at all costs. Here
are 5 dangers that you should take note when going for these
bogus flat belly diets:
Firstly, most of these 'fad
diets' will cause your body to go into a state of starvation.
This happens when the diet requires you to restrict your caloric
intake. Restricting caloric intake to below the minimum daily
requirement needed to sustain normal bodily functions will cause
your body to dysfunction.
Our body natural defense when it
sense that there is a shortage or irregular intake of food is to
store more fat for emergency use. At the same time it will also
slow down your body metabolism so as to preserve more energy and
the result will be that you will feel lethargic, unable to think
and react quickly to situations and weakness of the muscles
(just to name a few).
Secondly, when there is
insufficient calories supply, the primary victims of energy
supply is the layer of fat that protect your internal organs and
the protein in your muscle masses. When this happens, you lose
weight not because of fat loss underneath the surface of your
skin but from the losing of muscle masses.
Thirdly, some of these fad diets
can cause malnutrition and may also damage your body's organs.
Depending on how long you are on such fat loss diet, the damage
to the organs can either be temporary or permanent. Remember
this very important point - you do not want to end up with a
damaged body in the quest of a perfect looking body. You want to
be both healthy and happy with a perfect looking body.
Fourthly, some of such fad diets
will cause you to lose body fluid and this will also have
detrimental impact on your body. Almost 75% of our body is made
up of water and if you are dehydrated your blood will become
thicker and the delivery of nutrients, energy and oxygen to the
cells will be affected. One of the impacts is that your body
capability to repair itself will be hindered.
Fifthly, some of these fad diets
may cause you to lose weight but usually the result is
temporary. You'll gain back what you lose and more once you stop
following the diet. Remember the first point? Your body natural
defense is to store as much energy as possible when it sense
that there may be an impending shortage of food and your body
does not know whether the food shortage is due to personal
intention or not.
You do not need to go on fad
diets to get a perfect body with a six pack abs. You want the
result to be permanent and yet keep you healthy. To do this all
you need to do is to eat 5 to 6 small meals a day and these
meals should be balanced and comprises all the carbohydrates,
proteins, fats, fiber and essential minerals that your body
needs.
